Universal Studios Florida

kings-crossThe older of the two theme parks in the Universal Orlando Resort (the other is Islands of Adventure) Universal Studios provides an amazing themed journey into the world of movies and television.

Universal Studios has a very different feel to Disney which you have to experience to understand. The attractions are generally quite close together so you can move between them easily, although be prepared to queue (as with any other park!) The Rip Ride Rockit and Revenge of the Mummy are amazing coasters which are very popular – best to ride these early in the day if possible to beat any long queues.

Whilst the coasters are not for the little ones, there is plenty to amuse all ages from Shrek-4D to Men in Black and Woody Woodpeckers Kidzone.

mabelThere are a number of shows for all ages including The Blues Brothers’ live performance. There are also other shows just performed on the streets so watch out for those. All the attractions are themed around films or TV characters that are very familiar. There are the usual themed restaurants which range from a full meal to just a light snack. There are also lots of stalls selling very tasty snacks if you get peckish while strolling around.

Although there is no parade at Universal they do now have a firework and themed show in an evening. This is a fantastic park and great when you need a break from the Disney way.

Don’t think you can do the park in one day, you are best to allow two full days to see everything!
